Building the Black Empire

When I first started writing Empire of Shadows, I thought I was writing one story.

What I didn't realize was that I was actually building an entire world.

The Black Empire was never meant to revolve around just one couple or one family. From the very beginning, I imagined a universe where every romance would introduce new characters, new families, and new connections, all while remaining part of one larger story.

The journey begins in Italy with the D'Angelo, Bernardi, and Moretti families. These families form the foundation of the Black Empire, bringing together loyalty, tradition, power, and love. Their stories intertwine throughout the series, and readers will continue seeing familiar faces long after their own books are finished.

But the empire doesn't stop there.

As the series grows, readers will meet the Volkov family, introducing a powerful Russian dynasty with its own history, traditions, and unforgettable characters. Their arrival expands the Black Empire into a larger world where alliances, rivalries, and unexpected relationships begin crossing borders.

And the journey is far from over.

Future books will introduce American families and additional characters who will each bring their own culture, personality, and perspective into the Black Empire. Every new family adds another branch to the world while staying connected to the stories that came before it.

One of my favorite parts of writing this series is creating those connections. I love when a character who was once in the background steps into the spotlight or when readers recognize a familiar face in a completely different book. It makes the world feel alive, as though every family continues living their lives even after the final page of a novel.

Although each book follows a different couple, every story is connected. You can enjoy each romance on its own, but readers who journey through the entire series will discover friendships, family ties, returning characters, and small details that weave everything together into one expanding universe.

My goal has never been to write just one romance. My dream is to build a world that readers can return to for years—a place where every new book feels like coming home while still offering a fresh love story to discover.

The Black Empire is only getting started.

There are more families to meet, more romances to fall in love with, and many more stories waiting to be told.
